Draft scripts and storyboards for three new animated storybooks that teach 5–8 year olds the self-regulation strategies from the Recess Reset curriculum.
Recess Reset is an animated social-emotional learning curriculum used in classrooms and homes. Our 18 Lesson Units teach kids ages 5–8 practical self-regulation and self-awareness strategies — mindful breathing, grounding, naming feelings, and so on — through short animated videos and practice sessions.
We're expanding the curriculum with a series of animated storybooks. The prototype (Bubbles the blowfish, nervous before entering a mysterious cave, inviting the reader to take three deep breaths with him) is on our site. We now need three more.
Deliverable: a Google Doc with three complete storybook scripts. For each book, include the title, a short synopsis, and a page-by-page breakdown covering visual design, narrative flow, and the exact on-page text. Cap each book at 40 pages, aim for 30, and keep the reading level right for ages 5–8.
A few rules for the writing itself. Use a variety of characters from across the curriculum, not just the ones from the prototype. Each book should focus on one or two strategies — no kitchen sink. The strategies must be ones actually taught inside the animated curriculum, so you'll need to watch the Practice Sessions before writing. And every book needs a real obstacle: a character faces something hard, then invites the reader to practice a strategy alongside them.
You'll get: a free Teachers and Parents account (code: ADVISOR) with full access to all 18 Lesson Units, the animated storybook prototype for reference, and direct feedback from our team on each draft.
